Gregarious Grooves Trio to Perform September 6 in Sunday Soirée Series

Charleston based ensemble blends Spanish, Latin, classical, jazz, popular and original music

CHARLESTON, S.C. — [September 6, 2026] — The Gregarious Grooves Trio will bring its vibrant fusion of Spanish, Latin, classical, jazz, popular, and original music to the Sunday Soirée Series on Sunday, September 6 at 3:00 p.m. at the Simons Center Recital Hall, 54 Saint Philip St., Charleston, South Carolina.

The trio features Gregory Guay on Spanish guitarAxel Rangel on bass, and Jacob Abarbanell on conga and percussion. Guay and Rangel are alumni of the College of Charleston Music program.

Together, the musicians create a captivating fusion of sounds that draws on a wide range of musical traditions while showcasing the trio’s distinctive approach to Latin-inspired performance. Their repertoire brings together the rich colors of Spanish and Latin music with elements of classical, jazz, popular, and original music.

“We’re excited to bring Gregarious Grooves Trio to the Sunday Soirée Series,” said Gregory Guay. “This music is about connection — between traditions, cultures, musicians, and audiences. We’re looking forward to sharing that experience in the intimate setting of Simons Center Recital Hall.”

The Sunday Soirée Series features performances by faculty-artists and special guests during the academic season. The series spans a broad musical spectrum, from jazz and opera to chamber music, with concerts generally taking place at 3:00 p.m. in the Simons Center Recital Hall.
