About Gerald Albright

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Gerald Albright’s musical journey seamlessly transitioned from piano to the saxophone, which quickly became an extension of his inner voice. After honing his craft at the University of Redlands, he immediately exploded onto the studio and touring scenes. Displaying a rare virtuosity on both the saxophone and the electric bass guitar, he quickly became a first-call session musician and touring anchor for an astonishing roster of music legends, including Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, The Temptations, Phil Collins, Quincy Jones, and Maurice White.

Launching his brilliant solo career in 1987 with the smash debut Just Between Us, Albright helped pioneer the contemporary and smooth jazz formats. Over a career spanning more than 20 albums, he has captured 9 Grammy nominations, topped the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Charts multiple times, and earned a fiercely loyal global fanbase.

From his chart-topping classics like Bermuda Nights, Slam Dunk, and Groovology to his latest soul-stirring EP release Hot Chocolate, Albright continuously pushes the envelope of instrumental music. Backed by a tight, powerhouse live band, his performances are legendary masterclasses in musicianship—seamlessly shifting from intimate, smooth-jazz romance to high-octane, foot-stomping funk revues that keep the entire room on its feet.
